Hi Rune - Thanks for the link on the article on your blog. If I translated from Danish properly :-)
SvarSletIt seems to move in the right direction within development organizations in Denmark means first starting with moving "away" from the business cultures that include some of the qualities that kill innovation, devastates communication and ultimately results in the opaque, defensive management styles (i.e., blame-based whether it is blaming an individual leader or engineer or sales guy, etc.)? Could targeting to put a stop to this in any organization as a first step, break down a lot of barriers?
I recognize that it really means challenging in Denmark how many organizations function (internationally too). I realize that it means enlightening organizations to recognize and accept that involving their resources in management activities is not enough anymore if they want to stay one step ahead of their competitors – a.k.a. “involvement” of individuals is simply not the same as “responsibility”. i.e., accepting the wisdom that creative (innovative) efforts that are successfully taken to market are "impossible" to manage externally in the ways many organizations do to-date. It requires giving talented resources the ability and the training/skills to think and manage "themselves" in "harmony" with their leadership is the way forward here.
When the "power" behind what you are preaching here with your innovation initiative is not so intimidating, and more importantly cannot be misused to hurt others in these business cultures (and technology is by-nature a really brutal one) -- then it would help a lot in changing mindsets within Danish organizations.
What do you think?
