In the foreword to the new publication 'SMEs, Entrepreneurship and Innovation' OECD write that the combined forces of globalization, technological progress and growing market demand have created a new type of innovation: One that is widespread across many agents and sectors and is open.
This brings in new key players that brings new ideas to the market. These new ideas is transformed into new business and new firms growing rapidly and named "gazelles". These new business and new firms contribute to the economy.
To support this development the OECD publication 'SMEs, Entrepreneurship and Innovation' also explores three major - and yet insufficiently recognized action areas that are new to much of the policy world. These are:
Knowledge flow - collaboration between the agents and sectors
Empower people to innovate - develop and upgrade skills and capabilities in innovation
Social entrepreneurship and social innovation - to respond to social needs and challenges
The intention of the 'SMEs, Entrepreneurship and Innovation' publication is to become a flagship that inspires policy makers to face the challenges of the 21st century.

The eligibility of Innovationshøjskolen
Innovation is the precondition for a sustainable growth, job creation and the creation of a knowledge-based, low-carbon economy in the EU and especially for Denmark which increasingly depends on excellence and innovation as the main drivers of the Danish competitiveness.
The aim of the Danish government is to become a leading growth entrepreneurial nation by 2015 and mastering this transformation it is crucial to remain competitive in the globalised world and to achieve wider societal goals in a sustainable way under the pressure of demographic changes, the climate challenge, scarce resources and new security threats.
The key for the transformation is therefore the ability to think and act innovative. But innovation cannot be organized by a decree. It comes from people, and only people —
Such as young people, old people, students, employees, scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, consumers and also public authorities.
The Minister of Economic and Business Affairs, Lene Espersen, who has the responsibility to improve the conditions for growth in Denmark, speaks about the necessity Capital, Competences and Culture to become a leading growth entrepreneurial nation .
Especially culture and competences is important when it comes to the mindset of innovation. To change the mindset of people is a process that demands a framework which provokes and incites them to enter new and unknown territories.
The framework is INNOVATIONSHØJSKOLEN to manage the process to change the mindset of people.

Innovationshøjskolens formål og repræsentantskab!
Formål (Vedtægterne)
(I henhold til bekendtgørelsen om Frie Kostskoler § 6 punkt 6 stk. 2 skal institutionens vedtægter angive institutionens formål)
- Innovationshøjskolen har til formål at tilbyde almen dannende undervisning indenfor innovation og tilgrænsende uddannelses- og kursusvirksomhed i overensstemmelse med den gældende lovgivning herom.
- Desuden skal Innovationshøjskolen beskæftige sig med udviklings- og forsøgsarbejder inden for Innovationshøjskolens undervisningsområde, samt rekvireret forskning i relation hertil og virksomhed i øvrigt.
- Innovationshøjskolen udbyder endvidere rådgivning og andre ydelser med tilknytning til undervisnings- og kursusvirksomheden.
Repræsentantskabet
I henhold til bekendtgørelsen om Frie Kostskoler § 6, stk. 1, punkt 3 skal Innovationshøjskolen have et repræsentantskab. Dette repræsentantskab tænkes sammensat på følgende måde:
· 1 medlem udpeges af Ministeriet for Videnskab, Udvikling og Teknologi
· 1 medlem udpeges af Erhvervs- og Økonomiministeriet
· 1 medlem udpeges af Undervisningsministeriet
· 1 medlem udpeges af regionsrådet
· 1 medlem udpeges af Danske Universiteter (Rektorkollegiet)
· 1 medlem udpeges af Håndværksrådet
· 1 medlem udpeges af Dansk Erhverv
· 1 medlem udpeges af DI
· 1 medlem udpeges af AC/Liberalt Erhvervsråd
· 1 medlem udpeges af LO
· 1 medlem udpeges af FTF
· 1 medlem udpeges af Vækstfonden
· 1 medlem udpeges af Selvstændighedsfonden
· 1 medlem udpeges af Dansk Iværksætterforening
· 1 medlem udpeges af Connect Danmark
· 1 medlem udpeges af FFD
Repræsentantskabet kan supplere sig med yderligere 3 medlemmer efter eget valg.
Skolens lærere og teknisk administrative personale vælger hver 1 medlem til repræsentantskabet uden stemmeret. Skolens studerende vælger 2 medlemmer til repræsentantskabet uden stemmeret.
